Description of the Torments of Rebirth: The Asipatravana Punishment and the Mechanics of Karmic Retribution
ये तु धर्मरताः दाता वपुष्मन्तो यथा गृहे ॥ परिपान्ति क्षितिं सर्वे पात्यन्ते पापकाःरिणः
ye tu dharmaratā dātā vapuṣmanto yathā gṛhe || paripānti kṣitiṃ sarve pātyante pāpakāriṇaḥ
Ci, którzy są oddani dharmie i hojni, kwitnąc jakby we własnych domach, chronią ziemię; lecz ci, którzy popełniają występki, są strąceni w dół.
Varāha
It reflects a common Purāṇic ethical framework where social virtues (dharma, generosity) are linked to cosmic stability and welfare, while wrongdoing is associated with decline and punitive outcomes.
No specific geographic site is named in this verse; it uses the universal term kṣiti (“earth”).
Cultivation of dharma and generosity is presented as socially and cosmically sustaining, while harmful actions lead to downfall.
