Ritual Observance for Reciting the Deeds of Śatrughna
Remembrance of the Slaying of Lavaṇa
It signals a transition into an epic-linked narrative cycle, illustrating how Purāṇas reframe Rāmāyaṇa-associated material for didactic and ritual contexts.
No explicit place-name appears in this opening verse; it functions as a narrative preface.
The passage frames governance/heroism as protective responsibility toward social and learned communities (dvija-anugraha), expressed through narrative exempla.
