Sukta 8.6
आदित्प्रत्नस्य रेतसो ज्योतिष्पश्यन्ति वासरम् । परो यदिध्यते दिवा ॥
ā́dit pratnásya rétaso jyótiṣ paśyanti vāsarám | paró yád idhyáte divā́ ||
Wtedy zaprawdę oglądają dzień przy świetle starożytnego nasienia, gdy zapala się ono poza, w niebie: pierwotna potencja zapala wyższą blask, a dusza rozpoznaje prawdziwy świt świadomości.
Soma rite contemplation of higher kindling (idh); aligns with sacrificial fire symbolism as inner ignition of light
Primal seed (retaḥ) as origin of manifestation, Higher kindling as awakening of truth-consciousness, Vision (paśyanti) as result of ignition
The ‘day’ seen by jyotiḥ is the mind aligned to Ṛta—right perception and right movement.
Pratna-retas is Satya’s seed in the soul; jyotiḥ is Satya’s manifestation as knowledge.
Creation as ignition: the ancient seed becomes active light ‘in heaven’ (higher plane).
Integral Vedantic psychology: higher light kindled beyond mind reveals a new mode of being.
dawn/daybreak (implied by vāsara and kindling of light)
Day = awakened consciousness; sun/light = knowledge; kindling = tapas; heaven = higher mind/supramental domain; seed = latent divine potential.
Contemplate the ‘ancient seed’ in the heart as a spark; lift attention above the head (‘beyond in heaven’) and invite a descending clarity.
Sahasrāra/Ājñā with a supporting heart-spark (Anāhata).
Ujjāyī (soft) or slow inhale imagining ascent of flame; exhale imagining descent of light.
From aspiration (tapas) to illumination (jyotiḥ) and clear wakefulness (vāsara).
Chant, then pause in silence; feel a subtle flame above the brow/crown; allow thoughts to be lit rather than pushed away.
Vedic accents per Śākala; exact svara needs accent-marked text.
Let ‘jyotiḥ’ and ‘vāsaram’ ring clearly; observe pause after vāsaram if reciting in two halves.
ād it: separate lightly (āt + it) without over-merging, pratnasya: ‘tn’ cluster clear, retaso: keep ‘e’ long enough; final ‘o’ rounded, jyotiṣ: ‘ṣ’ retroflex sibilant; ‘jy’ cluster clean, idhyate: aspirate ‘dh’ distinctly, divā: long ā
Bright, uplifted, but steady; avoid strain—aim for ‘kindled clarity’.
