Sukta 8.59
घृतप्रुषः सौम्या जीरदानवः सप्त स्वसारः सदन ऋतस्य । या ह वामिन्द्रावरुणा घृतश्चुतस्ताभिर्धत्तं यजमानाय शिक्षतम् ॥
ghṛtápruṣaḥ saumyā́ jī́radānavo saptá svásāraḥ sádana ṛtásya | yā́ ha vām indrāvaruṇā ghṛtáścutaḥ tā́bhir dhattaṃ yájamānāya śikṣatam ||
Skrapiające ghī, karmione Somą, dające 'dojrzałe' bogactwa - siedem sióstr zasiadłych w domu Rty: te, o Indro i Waruno, które skapają jasnym światłem, nimi podtrzymajcie ofiarodawcę; nimi pouczajcie i prowadźcie go właściwą drogą.
Seven sisters—ghee-sprinkling, Soma-nourished, giving mature riches—sit in the seat of ṛta. With those that drip with ghee, O Indra and Varuṇa, uphold the sacrificer; by them teach him.
The ‘seven sisters’ are the ordered powers of consciousness (often the seven rays/streams), seated in the home of ṛta—truth-order as their natural station. They are ghṛtapruṣaḥ/ghṛtaścut: sprinkled and dripping with clarified light (ghṛta as luminous essence), and saumyāḥ: nourished by Soma-bliss. They bestow jīradānavaḥ—matured riches: stable realizations, not fleeting experiences. Indra-Varuṇa are invoked to support and train the yajamāna through these seven ordered energies—so the seeker’s life becomes an exact embodiment of ṛta.
Higher realization is not random; it comes as an ordered plurality of powers seated in truth. When nourished by inner delight and clarified light, these powers mature the seeker and educate action into rightness.
Seven sisters motif, Rita-seat establishment, Guidance of the sacrificer, Soma-fed illumination
A ‘sevenfold’ doctrine: realization as an ordered system of powers seated in ṛta; training (śikṣā) as integral part of attainment.
The rishi emphasizes maturation (jīra) over mere ecstasy: bliss must nourish powers that are clarified and truth-seated, yielding stable transformation.
They govern the integration of illumination (Indra) with truth-order (Varuṇa) through the structured agencies of ṛta (the seven).
Integrative guidance: they marshal the sevenfold energies so the seeker is upheld and educated into right action and stable realization.
Soma-yajña; verses invoking ghṛta (ghee) and ordered powers may accompany offerings of ghee and Soma

Structured and processional; suits enumeration (seven) and ‘seated in ṛta’.
Instills a sense of order and stability; supports integrating multiple inner movements into one harmonious rhythm.
Mantra emphasizing ṛta-seat and soma-fed powers; suitable in Soma offerings and in invocations for right guidance (śikṣatam) of the yajamāna.
During libations emphasizing ṛta and the supportive powers of the rite (ghee/Soma)
Invocation to uphold the yajamāna; may accompany oblations with ghṛta
Use to stabilize practice: chant when experiences are scattered—invoke the ‘seven sisters’ as inner disciplines (clarity, sincerity, calm, energy, devotion, discernment, perseverance) seated in truth.
(ghṛta): from √ghṛ ‘to shine/sprinkle’ (traditional: clarified butter; symbolically ‘clarified light’ in the mind). (pruṣ) ‘drop/sprinkle’: imagery of fine raining influx. (saumya): from soma; ‘of soma’, i.e., delight-principle. (jīra): ‘aged, mature, lasting’; suggests ripened, stable gains. (dānava) here in compound likely from dāna ‘giving’ (not the demon class), ‘giver’. (sadana): from √sad ‘sit, settle’, seat/abode. (√śikṣ): ‘to train, discipline’.
Ṛta as the ‘seat’ of right order, Sevenfold powers (integral completeness), Discipline/training (śikṣ)
Explicit: the seven are seated in ṛta—truth-order is the ground of their action.
Implied through ṛta-seat and training toward rightness.
Cosmic order manifests through structured powers; maturation of ‘wealth’ indicates evolutionary consolidation.
Integral Yoga: multiple planes/powers integrated; ghṛta as light-substance; Soma as ānanda feeding transformation.
Ghee = clarified light in the mind; Soma = bliss-essence; seven sisters = seven rays/streams of consciousness seated in truth-order.
Contemplate the ‘seat of ṛta’ in the heart-mind: a stable inner order. Invite sevenfold harmonization of faculties under illumination and truth.
Anāhata (seat/home) + Ājñā (clarified discernment)
Box breathing 4–4–4–4 for stability; then chant, sensing ‘droplets of light’ descending with each exhale.
Ordered quietude; integrative steadiness.
Name seven inner supports (choose your own list) and place them ‘in ṛta’: commit each to truth. After chanting, do one small action that increases order (clean speech, honest correction, disciplined schedule).
As marked in Saṃhitā; maintain distinct accents on compounds like : and. Exact svara needs śākhā guide.
Keep ‘sapta svasāraḥ’ clean and even; pause lightly after ‘sadana ṛtasya’.
‘ghṛta’: vocalic ṛ; keep it short and clear., ‘pruṣaḥ’: retroflex ṣ; final ḥ audible but soft., ‘svasāraḥ’: ‘sv’ cluster crisp., ‘ṛtasya’: vocalic ṛ; avoid turning it into ‘rit’., ‘śikṣatam’: kṣ conjunct crisp.
Warm, luminous timbre; slightly slower on ‘sadane ṛtasya’ to feel the ‘seat’.
