Bharata Meets the Messengers; Kekaya King Grants Leave

Under the protection of the army, the illustrious Bharata who was devoid of enemies, accompanied by ministers who were comparable to him and Satrughna, departed from his venerable grandfather's house like a siddha leaving the regions of Indra.ityārṣē śrīmadrāmāyaṇē vālmīkīya ādikāvyē ayōdhyākāṇḍē saptatitamassargaḥ৷৷Thus ends the seventieth sarga in Ayodhyakanda of the holy Ramayana, the first epic composed by sage Valmiki.
Dharma here is responsible leadership: a prince travels with proper protection and competent counsel, indicating commitment to safety, order, and public duty rather than private impulse.
Bharata completes his departure from Kekaya territory—escorted by troops, accompanied by ministers, and traveling with Śatrughna from Āryaka’s residence toward Ayodhya.
Steadfast, unthreatening nobility (apeta-śatru): Bharata is portrayed as principled and well-supported, fit for heavy responsibilities.
