Rishi: Atharvanic tradition
It is used to obtain Indra’s protective guardianship and to establish svasti—general welfare, safety, and auspicious conditions—for a family or community.
The repetition underscores Indra’s accessibility and responsiveness; the hymn’s method is to intensify protection by continual, successful invocation (su-hava, puru-hūta).
No specific substances are prescribed in the verse; its efficacy is primarily verbal—recitation and focused intention. Optional simple purity acts (ācamana) may accompany it.
