मार्गशीर्षे सिते पक्षे प्रतिपद्यां तिथिर्भवेत् । तस्यां नक्तं प्रकुर्वीत विष्णुमग्निं प्रपूजयेत् ॥ ५६.२ ॥
mārgaśīrṣe site pakṣe pratipadyāṃ tithir bhavet | tasyāṃ naktaṃ prakurvīta viṣṇum agniṃ prapūjayet || 56.2 ||
Pada bulan Mārgaśīrṣa, dalam paruh terang (śukla pakṣa), apabila tiba tithi Pratipadā, pada hari itu hendaklah dilakukan amalan ‘naktam’—berpuasa pada siang dan makan pada malam—serta menyembah Viṣṇu dan Agni dengan sempurna.
