Sukta 31
ví grāmyā́ḥ paśáva āraṇyáir vy-ā̀ ’pa tṛ́ṣṇayā ’saran | vy àháṃ sárveṇa pā́pmánā ví yákṣmeṇa sám ā́yuṣā
Apart the village herds have sped with forest-creatures; the waters, urged by thirst, have run away. So may I be parted from all evil taint, parted from yákṣma, and joined with full length of life.
Rishi: Atharvanic tradition (attributed in the healing corpus; specific r̥ṣi assignment varies by anukramaṇī)
Devata: Yákṣma (as illness-demon) and Āyus/Prāṇa (as restorative life-force) implicitly
Chandas: Mixed/Anuṣṭubh-like cadence (as transmitted in AV healing hymns; exact metrical scansion is not uniform)
Primary: shanta
Secondary: karuna
