शं त॑प॒ माति॑ तपो॒ अग्ने॒ मा त॒न्वं॑१ तपः॑ । वणे॑षु॒ शुष्मो॑ अस्तु ते पृथि॒व्याम॑स्तु॒ यद्धरः॑
śáṁ tapa mā́ti tapo agne mā́ tanvàṁ tapaḥ | váneṣu śúṣmo astu te pṛthivyā́m astu yád dharáḥ ||
Burn thou for welfare; burn not overmuch, O Agni; scorch not the body. In the forests let thy fierce might be; upon the earth let be that which is thy containing support.
Demi sejahtera, menyala-lah; jangan menyala terlampau, wahai Agni; jangan menghanguskan tubuh. Di rimba-rimba biarlah kegagahan dayamu; di atas bumi biarlah ada yang menjadi penahan dan sokonganmu.
