उ॒दी॒चीनैः॑ प॒थिभि॑र्वायु॒मद्भि॑रति॒क्राम॒न्तोऽव॑रान् प॑रेभिः । त्रिः स॒प्त कृत्व॒ ऋष॑यः॒ परे॑ता मृ॒त्युं प्रत्यौ॑हन् पद॒योप॑नेन

udīcī́naiḥ pathíbhiḥ vāyumádbhir atikrā́manto ’várān parébhíḥ | tríḥ saptá kṛtvá ṛ́ṣayaḥ parétā mṛtyúṁ práty auhan padayópanena

By northward paths, by ways possessed of wind, overstepping the lower by the higher, the Seers, having gone beyond, after doing it thrice seven times, smote back Death by the rite of foot-leading.

Melalui jalan-jalan ke utara, melalui laluan yang berangin, melangkahi yang rendah dengan yang lebih tinggi; para Ṛṣi, setelah melampaui, sesudah melakukannya tiga kali tujuh kali, memukul mundur Maut dengan upacara penuntunan kaki (padayopana).
