यदा न ववृधे तस्य ब्रह्मणो मानसि प्रजा । तदा दध्यौ किमेतन्मे न तथा वर्ध्धते प्रजा ॥
yadā na vavṛdhe tasya brahmaṇo mānasī prajā | tadā dadhyau kim etan me na tathā varddhate prajā ||
परंतु जेव्हा ब्रह्म्याची मानसप्रजा वाढली नाही, तेव्हा तो विचार करू लागला—‘माझ्या बाबतीत हे काय, की प्रजा जशी वाढायला हवी तशी वाढत नाही?’
