Ramcharitmanas: Bala Kanda, Prakarana 21

Speaker

Narrator voice within the Manas frame (traditionally: Shiva narrating to Parvati in the Bala-kanda discourse stream)

Listener

Parvati (within the Shiva–Parvati dialogue ghat)

Vatsalya (with a flash of Shanta through cosmic awe)

The prasanga

Child-Rama’s līlā in which the Mother beholds the entire cosmos (including deities and cosmic principles) and is overwhelmed; Rama then resumes child-form and counsels her not to disclose the vision.

Themes

For right living (Ramrajya ethics)

Maryada as an ethical ideal: even supreme power restrains itself to preserve relational duty and social harmony; private mystical experience is not weaponized for public status, but held with humility and discretion.

Nirguna and saguna

The infinite, attribute-transcending reality is disclosed through the saguna līlā as the cosmic vision; yet the same Lord voluntarily veils that infinitude by returning to child-form, showing that the formless is not denied but lovingly ‘domesticated’ for devotion.

FAQs
