हे संक्षिप्त पौष्टिक सूक्त साऱस्वंताला आवाहन करते—ज्याच्या अधीन असलेल्या विश्व-‘व्रता’ (नियम/आदेश) अंतर्गत गोधन, आपः (जल), आणि पोषणाचा अधिपती (पुष्टपती) परस्पर सुसंवादाने कार्य करतात. साऱस्वंताला “दात्याकडे वळलेला” असे संबोधून, यजमानाच्या निवासात समृद्धी, गोधनवृद्धी, स्थिर ‘निधींचे आसन’, तसेच कीर्ती आणि सामाजिक मानमरातब प्राप्त व्हावा, अशी प्रार्थना केली आहे.

सरस्वान्—ज्याच्या व्रताचे (नियमाचे) पालन सर्व पशू करतात, ज्याच्या व्रतापुढे आपः (जल) उपस्थित राहतात; ज्याच्या व्रतात पुष्टिपति (पोषणाचा अधिपती) प्रतिष्ठित आहे—त्या सरस्वान्ला आम्ही रक्षण व सहाय्यासाठी आवाहन करतो.
