AVŚ 6.20 हे संक्षिप्त तक्ष्मन्-सूक्त आहे. यात ज्वर आणि क्षय (यक्ष्म) यांना शांत करता येणारी, नाव घेऊन संबोधता येणारी व हाकलून लावता येणारी व्यक्तिरूप शक्ती मानले आहे. उपचाराचा हेतू येथे सौम्य अभिचारिक ‘वळवणी’च्या भावनेशी जोडला आहे: ज्वराची उष्णता रुग्णाला सोडून ‘अव्रत’ (व्रत/नियमित जीवनाबाहेरचा) याच्याकडे जावी असे सांगितले आहे; आणि घरातील लोक वारंवार ‘नमो’ अर्पण करून संरक्षण दृढ करतात.

यक्ष्मा (क्षय/क्षयरोग) नाश करणारे. जशी अग्नी जळत जळत त्या प्रचंड (रोगा)तून बाहेर पडून पुढे जाते; आणि जसा मद्यधुंद मनुष्य विलाप करीत असता ते मागे सरते, तसे ते दूर होते. ते आम्हांपासून दूर जाऊन दुसऱ्यालाच शोधो—कोणीही असो, व्रतहीन (अव्रत) मनुष्य—ज्वराची उष्णता त्याला आघात करो. तक्मन् (ज्वर) यास नमस्कार असो.
