हा चार ऋचांचा सूक्त विमोचन व प्रायश्चित्ताची प्रार्थना आहे. अपराध, शपथभंग व बंधन यांमुळे निर्माण झालेल्या दोषबंधनरूप वरुणाच्या न्यायपाशांना सैल करावे, तसेच दुष्वप्न्य (वाईट स्वप्ने) आणि दुरित (अपशकुन/दुर्दैव) दूर करावे, अशी विनंती यात आहे. अशुभ बंध दूर करून ऋत/धर्माची योग्य व्यवस्था पुनःस्थापित व्हावी, त्यामुळे आरोग्य, जीवनाच्या “मार्गां”वर अडथळारहित गती, आणि सुकृत-लोकाकडे (पुण्याने प्राप्त होणाऱ्या लोकाकडे) सुरक्षित प्रवास साधावा, हा याचा हेतू आहे.
Mantra 1
सुकृतलोकप्राप्तिः वि॒षाणा॒ पाशा॒न् वि ष्याध्य॒स्मद् य उ॑त्त॒मा अ॑ध॒मा वा॑रु॒णा ये। दु॒ष्वप्न्यं॑ दुरि॒तं नि ष्वा॒स्मदथ॑ गच्छेम सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒कम्
हे वरुणाचे पाश—उच्च असोत वा नीच—आमच्यापासून सुटून वेगळे होऊन सैल व्हा. दुष्ट स्वप्न आणि दुरित/अनिष्टता आमच्यापासून खाली उतरवून दूर करा; मग आम्ही सुकृताच्या लोकाला प्राप्त होऊ.

यद् दारु॑णि ब॒ध्यसे॒ यच्च॒ रज्ज्वां॒ यद् भूम्यां॑ ब॒ध्यसे॒ यच्च॑ वा॒चा। अ॒यं तस्मा॒द् गार्ह॑पत्यो नो अ॒ग्निरुदिन्न॑याति सुकृ॒तस्य॑ लो॒कम्
तू ज्या-ज्या बंधनाने बांधला आहेस—लाकडात, किंवा दोरीत; जमिनीवर बांधला आहेस, किंवा वाणी/शपथाने बांधला आहेस—त्या सर्वांतून आमचा हा गार्हपत्य अग्नी तुला वर उचलून बाहेर काढतो आणि सुकृताच्या (पुण्याच्या) लोकाकडे नेतो.

उद॑गातां॒ भग॑वती वि॒चृतौ॒ नाम॒ तार॑के । प्रेहामृत॑स्य यच्छतां॒ प्रैतु॑ बद्धक॒मोच॑नम्
वर जावोत त्या दोन भगवती (कल्याणकारिणी)—‘विचृतौ’ नावाच्या, हे तारके (तारक-मार्गदर्शकांनो)! इथेच अमृतत्व द्या; बांधलेल्या जनाचे मोचन पुढे जाऊन बाहेर पडो.
Mantra 4
वि जि॑हीष्व लो॒कं कृ॑णु ब॒न्धान्मु॑ञ्चासि॒ बद्ध॑कम्। योन्या॑ इव॒ प्रच्यु॑तो॒ गर्भः॑ प॒थः सर्वां॒ अनु॑ क्षिय
झटकून टाक, आणि आपला लोक निर्माण कर; बंधनांतून तू बांधलेल्याला मुक्त करतोस. जसा योनीतून घसरून गर्भ बाहेर येतो, तसा तू सर्व मार्गांवर क्रमाने पुढे जा आणि स्थिर हो.
It is a ritual-moral image of binding: Varuṇa, guardian of ṛta, ‘binds’ those under fault, fear, illness-omen, or broken vow. The hymn asks that binding to be loosened and lifted away.
Both. It treats duṣvapnya (evil dreams) and durita (misfortune) as real afflictions that can cling to a person, and it seeks release that restores health, luck, and clear life-direction.
Recite the verses after washing (especially after a bad dream), untie a small knot while reciting the unbinding lines, and make a gesture of casting away at the duṣvapnya/durita portion, ending with a forward step to symbolize restored freedom.
