हे लघु पौष्टिक सूक्त घरगुती समृद्धी-मंत्र असून, व्यक्तीचे वर्चस् (तेज, सामाजिक प्रभा) वाढवते आणि धनवृद्धी, सहकाऱ्यांमध्ये प्रभुत्व, तसेच विपुल संतती यांची प्राप्ती व स्थैर्य साधते. तुपाने पोसलेला अग्नी ही उन्नती देणारी मुख्य शक्ती आहे; इंद्र प्रतिष्ठा व दीर्घायुष्य प्रदान करतो; सोम आणि ब्रह्मणस्पती दैवी अनुमोदन देऊन, हविर्दानाद्वारे गृहवृद्धीवर शिक्कामोर्तब करून ती दृढ करतात.

वर्चः प्राप्तिः उदे॑नमुत्त॒रं न॒याग्ने॑ घृ॒तेना॑हुत । समे॑नं॒ वर्च॑सा सृज प्र॒जया॑ च ब॒हुं कृ॑धि
वर्चस् (तेज) प्राप्तीसाठी—हे अग्ने, घृताने आहुती दिली असता या पुरुषाला वर (उन्नतीकडे) ने. त्याला सम वर्चसाने संयुक्त कर; आणि प्रजा (संतान) सहित त्याला बहुसमृद्ध कर.

इन्द्रे॒मं प्र॑त॒रं कृ॑धि सजा॒ताना॑मसद् व॒शी। रा॒यस्पोषे॑ण॒ सं सृ॑ज जी॒वात॑वे ज॒रसे॑ नय
हे इन्द्रा, या पुरुषाला अधिक प्रतिष्ठित कर; आपल्या समकक्षांमध्ये तो वशी (अधिपती) होऊन बसो. धन व पोषण यांसह त्याला संयुक्त कर; जगण्यासाठी त्याला पुढे ने, आणि जरा (वृद्धत्व) येईपर्यंत त्याला ने.

यस्य॑ कृ॒ण्मो ह॒विर्गृ॒हे तम॑ग्ने वर्धया॒ त्वम्। तस्मै॒ सोमो॒ अधि॑ ब्रवद॒यं च॒ ब्रह्म॑ण॒स्पतिः॑
ज्याच्या घरी आम्ही हवि (आहुती) करतो—हे अग्ने, त्यालाच तू वाढव. त्याच्यासाठी सोमाने अनुमोदनपूर्वक सांगितले आहे; आणि या ब्रह्मणस्पतीनेही तसेच सांगितले आहे.
