AV 19.16 हे एक संक्षिप्त रक्षात्मक मंत्ररूप सूक्त आहे. दिशांमध्ये दैवी रक्षकांची स्थापना करून ते “अभय” (निर्भयता) आणि “असपत्न” (प्रतिस्पर्धी-रहित सुरक्षितता) निर्माण करते. प्रथम सविता आणि इंद्र (शचीपति) यांच्या द्वारा साधकाची परिघरेषा सील/मुद्रित केली जाते; नंतर ते पूर्ण “कवच” म्हणून विस्तारते, ज्यात दिव्य, भौम आणि पार्श्व शक्ती एकत्र येऊन सर्व दिशांनी रक्षण करणारे ढाल बनतात.

अभयम्। अ॒स॒प॒त्नं पु॒रस्ता॑त् प॒श्चान्नो॒ अभ॑यं कृतम्। स॒वि॒ता मा॑ दक्षिण॒त उ॑त्त॒रान्मा॒ शची॒पतिः॑
अभय—समोर असपत्न (प्रतिद्वन्द्वी-रहित) असो; मागेही आमच्यासाठी अभय निर्माण झालेले असो. दक्षिणेकडून सविता माझे रक्षण करो; उत्तरेकडून शचीपति (इंद्र) माझे रक्षण करो.

दि॒वो मा॑दि॒त्या र॑क्षन्तु॒ भूम्या॑ रक्षन्त्व॒ग्नयः॑ । इ॒न्द्रा॒ग्नी र॑क्षतां मा पु॒रस्ता॑द॒श्विना॑व॒भितः॒ शर्म॑ यच्छताम्। ति॒र॒श्चीन॒घ्न्या र॑क्षतु जा॒तवे॑दा भूत॒कृतो॑ मे स॒र्वतः॑ सन्तु॒ वर्म॑
दिव्याकडून आदित्य माझे रक्षण करो; पृथ्वीवरून अग्नयः (अग्निदेव) रक्षण करो. समोरून इंद्र-आग्नी माझे रक्षण करो; दोन्ही बाजूंनी अश्विनौ मला शरण-सुख द्यावेत. तिरश्चीन अघ्न्या (अवध्य रक्षिका) रक्षण करो; जातवेदाः—भूतकृतः (प्राण्यांचे कर्ते)—माझ्यासाठी सर्व बाजूंनी कवच होवोत.
“Abhaya” means fearlessness and safety. Here it is treated as a power that can be established around a person so that anxiety, threats, and hostile pressure do not gain entry.
The sukta builds protection by mapping guardians onto space. By naming directions, it symbolically closes the approaches through which danger or rivalry might ‘arrive,’ turning the surroundings into a secured perimeter.
