यदि नाम मतैक्यं तु बुद्धिः स्मरणमागता । वरणीया कुमारी तु सर्वदा विजिगीषुभिः । न स्वतन्त्रेण कन्यायाः कार्यं क्वापि प्रकर्षणम् ॥
yadi nāma mataikyaṃ tu buddhiḥ smaraṇam āgatā | varaṇīyā kumārī tu sarvadā vijigīṣubhiḥ | na svatantreṇa kanyāyāḥ kāryaṃ kvāpi prakarṣaṇam ||
ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಅಭಿಪ್ರಾಯ ಏಕ್ಯವೂ ದೃಢ ಸಂಕಲ್ಪವೂ ಉಂಟಾದರೆ, ಜಯವನ್ನು ಬಯಸುವವರು ಸದಾ ಆ ಕನ್ಯೆಯನ್ನು ವರಣ (ವಿವಾಹಾರ್ಥ) ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಆದರೆ ಕನ್ಯೆಯ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದೇ ಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅವಳು ಸ್ವತಂತ್ರವಾಗಿ (ಪಾಲಕರ ಅನುಮತಿ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ) ಎಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಬಲವಂತವಾಗಿ ಮುಂದೂಡಬಾರದು.
