Indra
This Indra-hymn is a swift invitation for the Vṛtrahan to come from near and far and accept the sweet Soma offering prepared for his exhilaration. It celebrates Soma’s pressing, Indra’s delight and strength, and recalls the mythic Soma brought by the śyena (falcon), urging Indra to drink as lord of its power.

Mantra 1
आ प्र द्रव परावतोऽर्वावतश्च वृत्रहन् । मध्वः प्रति प्रभर्मणि ॥
इंद्र, दुश्मन को हराने वाले, तुम दूर से भी आओ और पास से भी। हम तुम्हारे लिए मीठा रस रख के बुला रहे हैं। आओ और इसे लो।
Mantra 2
तीव्राः सोमास आ गहि सुतासो मादयिष्णवः । पिबा दधृग्यथोचिषे ॥
देखो, सोम का रस तैयार है और तेज़ है। यह तुम्हे खुशी देने के लिए बेताब है। आओ और पियो। तुम इसके अधिकारी हो, इसलिए यह तुम्हारा है।

इषा मन्दस्वादु तेऽरं वराय मन्यवे । भुवत्त इन्द्र शं हृदे ॥
इस रस से खुश हो जाओ। यह तुम्हारे लिए काफी है और तुम्हारी इच्छा पूरी करेगा। इंद्र, यह तुम्हारे दिल में सुकून लाएगा।

आ त्वशत्रवा गहि न्युक्थानि च हूयसे । उपमे रोचने दिवः ॥
हे दुश्मनों वाले, आ जा। हम तुझे बुला रहे हैं। आसमान के सबसे ऊपर वाली जगह पे बैठ जा। वहाँ रोशनी है, वहाँ चमक है।

तुभ्यायमद्रिभिः सुतो गोभिः श्रीतो मदाय कम् । प्र सोम इन्द्र हूयते ॥
इंद्र, यह सोम रस तेरे लिए निकाला है। पत्थर से निचोड़ा है, दूध और घी से मिलाया है। यह तुझे खुशी और ताकत देगा। आ और इसको पी ले।

इन्द्र श्रुधि सु मे हवमस्मे सुतस्य गोमतः । वि पीतिं तृप्तिमश्नुहि ॥
इंद्र, मेरी सुन। मैं तुझे बुला रहा हूँ। यह सोम रस तैयार है, इसमें ताकत है। आ और पूरा पी ले। तुझे खुशी मिलेगी, तुझे सैटिस्फैक्शन मिलेगा।

य इन्द्र चमसेष्वा सोमश्चमूषु ते सुतः । पिबेदस्य त्वमीशिषे ॥
इंद्र, यह सोम रस तेरे लिए बनाया है। बाउल में है, ग्लास में है। इसका मालिक तू है। आ और इसको पी ले। यह तेरे हाथ में है।

यो अप्सु चन्द्रमा इव सोमश्चमूषु ददृशे । पिबेदस्य त्वमीशिषे ॥
देख, यह सोम रस बाउल में चमक रहा है। जैसे पानी में चाँद दिखता है, वैसे ही यह दिखता है। इंद्र, तू इसका मालिक है। आ और इसको पी ले।

यं ते श्येनः पदाभरत्तिरो रजांस्यस्पृतम् । पिबेदस्य त्वमीशिषे ॥
एक बाज़ ने सोम लाया है। वो आसमान पार करके आया, किसी चीज़ का हाथ भी नहीं लगा। अब तुम उस सोम को पियो। तुम्हारा हक़ है, तुम उसकी ताकत के मालिक हो।
