साम द्विबर्हा महि तिग्मभृष्टिः सहस्ररेता वृषभस्तुविष्मान् । पदं न गोरपगूळ्हं विविद्वानग्निर्मह्यं प्रेदु वोचन्मनीषाम् ॥
sā́ma dvi-bárhā máhi tigmá-bhṛṣṭiḥ sahásra-retā vṛṣabhás tuviṣmān | padáṃ na gór apa-gūḷháṃ vividvā́n agnír máhyaṃ préd u vocan manīṣā́m ||
સામ—દ્વિબર્હા (દ્વિ-આધારવાળું), મહાન, તિગ્મભૃષ્ટિ (તીક્ષ્ણ તેજવાળી ધાર), સહસ્રરેતા (હજારો બીજવાળો), તુવિષ્માન્ વૃષભ—એવો અગ્નિ; ગૌ (કિરણ-ગાય)નું ગુપ્ત પદ જેમ છુપાયેલું હોય તેમ તેને શોધી જાણનાર, તેણે મને મનીષા—પ્રેરિત સમજ—પ્રગટ કહી.
