Sukta 4.3
ऋतेन ऋतं नियतमीळ आ गोरामा सचा मधुमत्पक्वमग्ने । कृष्णा सती रुशता धासिनैषा जामर्येण पयसा पीपाय ॥
ṛténa ṛtáṃ ní-yatam īḷe ā́ góra āmā́ sácā mádhu-mat pákvam agne | kṛṣṇā́ satī́ rúśatā dhā́sinaiṣā́ jāmaryéṇa páyasā pīpāya ||
Symbolic articulation of transformation: raw-to-ripe, dark-to-luminous; supports Soma/ghṛta/havis offering as inner maturation under ṛta.
Rita as instrument and goal, maturation of consciousness (āma → pakva), delight/essence (madhu)
Explicit: Ṛta is both means and object—truth worships truth; alignment produces transformation.
The movement from kṛṣṇā to ruśat embodies satya’s unveiling: truth reveals itself when held rightly.
Inner creation as cooking: experience is transmuted into sweetness (madhu) and nourishment (payas).
Integral yoga reading: Tapas (Agni) under Ṛta produces luminous growth in nature.
Milk/honey = essence of delight and knowledge; Vessel = receptive purified consciousness; Fire = transformative will; Dark → bright = ignorance → illumination.
Offer both immature and mature experiences into inner fire; cultivate a luminous vessel (steady attention) that can hold transformation.
Maṇipūra (digestive fire) with support of Anāhata (receptive vessel)
Slow exhale-lengthening (1:2) while visualizing dark breath turning golden in the ‘vessel’ of the heart.
Calm, assimilative, quietly luminous.
Journal or recall one ‘raw’ reaction and one ‘ripe’ insight; chant once, then imagine both melting into a single sweetness in the heart-fire; rest in the nourished quiet.
Rigvedic accents per padapāṭha; emphasize the paired ‘ṛtena ṛtam’ with a balanced rise-fall.
Keep ‘ṛtena ṛtam’ as a single intentional unit; do not pause between āmā and pakvam—chant as a joined offering.
ṛtena: clear vocalic ‘ṛ’, niyata: light ‘ni-ya’ separation, madhumat: ‘dh’ voiced aspirate, kṛṣṇā: retroflex ‘ṣṇ’ cluster, ruśatā: palatal ‘ś’
Warm, contained, ‘digestive’ resonance; avoid harshness.
