तदूचुषे मानुषेमा युगानि कीर्तेन्यं मघवा नाम बिभ्रत् । उपप्रयन्दस्युहत्याय वज्री यद्ध सूनुः श्रवसे नाम दधे ॥

Transliteration

tád ūcúṣe mā́nuṣemā́ yugā́ni kīrtényam maghávā nā́ma bíbhrat | upa-práyan dasyu-hátyāya vajrī́ yád dha sūnúḥ śrávase nā́ma dadhé ||

Translation

આ વાત માનવ પેઢીઓએ યુગો યુગોથી ઉચ્ચારી છે—મઘવાન (ઇન્દ્ર)નું કીર્તનીય નામ ધારણ કરીને. વજ્રધારી દસ્યુ-હત્યાર્થે આગળ વધ્યો, જ્યારે ખરેખર પુત્રે શ્રવસ્ (શ્રવણ-કીર્તિ)ની વૃદ્ધિ માટે પોતાને નામ સ્થાપ્યું.
