અવ 7.42 બે મંત્રોનું સંક્ષિપ્ત ઉપચાર‑શુદ્ધિકરણ મંત્ર છે, જેમાં સોમ અને રુદ્રની જોડ શક્તિઓને દિવ્ય વૈદ્યો તરીકે આહ્વાન કરવામાં આવે છે. તેમાં ભટકતી ઉપદ્રવતા (રોગ/દુષ્પ્રભાવ) દૂર હાંકી કાઢવા, નિરૃતિ (આપત્તિ/વિનાશ)ને બહુ દૂર મોકલવા, અને દેહ તથા ગૃહને ચોંટેલી રહે છે એમ માનાતી ‘એનસ’ (કૃતદોષજન્ય અપરાધ‑બંધન)ની બાંધક શક્તિ ઢીલી પાડવા પ્રાર્થના કરવામાં આવે છે. આ સૂક્તની શક્તિ તેની દ્વિગુણ ક્રિયામાં છે: દુર્ભાગ્યનું નિષ્કાસન અને પાપને દેહગત, સ્પર્શ્ય બંધન સમજી અંદરથી તેનું બંધન છૂટું કરવું.
Mantra 1
पापमोचनम्। सोमा॑रुद्रा॒ वि वृ॑हतं॒ विषू॑ची॒ममी॑ वा॒ या नो॒ गय॑मावि॒वेश॑ । बाधे॑थां दू॒रं निरृ॑तिं परा॒चैः कृ॒तं चि॒देनः॒ प्र मु॑मुक्तम॒स्मत्
(પાપમોચનમ્) હે સોમ-રુદ્રો, અમારા ગૃહ અને જીવનમાં પ્રવેશેલી વિષૂચી ભટકતી દુષ્ટતા—અથવા રોગ—ને તમે અલગ કરી દૂર હાંકો. નિરૃતિ (વિનાશ/અપશકુન) ને બહુ દૂર, પીઠ ફેરવીને હાંકો; અને કરેલું પણ પાપ (એનઃ) અમાથી છૂટું કરી મુક્ત કરો.

सोमा॑रुद्रा यु॒वमे॒तान्य॒स्मद् विश्वा॑ त॒नूषु॑ भेष॒जानि॑ धत्तम्। अव॑ स्यतं मु॒ञ्चतं॒ यन्नो॒ अस॑त् त॒नूषु॑ ब॒द्धं कृ॒तमेनो॑ अ॒स्मत्
હે સોમ અને રુદ્ર, તમે બન્ને અમારા શરીરોમાં આ સર્વ ભેષજો—ઔષધિઓ—ધરો. અમારામાં જે કંઈ દોષ—પાપકર્મથી ઉપજેલું અપરાધ—શરીરોમાં બંધાયેલું છે, તેને દૂર હાંકો, તેને છોડી મુકો, અમાથી અલગ કરો.
They are invoked as a paired healing power: Soma provides purifying, medicinal essence, while Rudra forcefully drives away affliction and calamity. Together they heal and protect.
Nirṛti is personified ruin or misfortune that must be sent far away. Enas is a fault or guilt that is imagined as something that can cling to a person and even feel ‘bound’ within the body, needing release.
It can be recited for sickness or household misfortune with simple purification acts—sprinkling water, offering a Soma-symbolic drink, and making an ‘untying’ gesture to dramatize the mantra’s request to unbind and remove harm.
