Ce bref hymne de type gāyatrī invite Indra au pressurage du soma, le priant de venir avec ses chevaux fauves et de prendre place sur le char resplendissant au sacrifice. Il loue ensuite Indra comme le soutien du Ciel et de la Terre, qui établit une abondante nourriture, et s’achève sur l’image d’Indra, Taureau fauve, s’armant du vajra pour une action victorieuse.

Mantra 1

अयं ते अस्तु हर्यतः सोम आ हरिभिः सुतः । जुषाण इन्द्र हरिभिर्न आ गह्या तिष्ठ हरितं रथम् ॥

Que ce Soma soit pour toi, ô Désirable : pressé avec les puissances fauves (hari). L’acceptant, ô Indra, viens à nous avec tes énergies hari ; approche et tiens‑toi sur le char vert‑doré dans notre enceinte sacrificielle.

Mantra 2

हर्यन्नुषसमर्चयः सूर्यं हर्यन्नरोचयः । विद्वाँश्चिकित्वान्हर्यश्व वर्धस इन्द्र विश्वा अभि श्रियः ॥

D’un élan fauve (hari) tu chantes Uṣas, l’Aurore ; d’un élan fauve tu fais resplendir Sūrya, le Soleil. Sachant, clairvoyant, ô Indra aux coursiers fauves, tu grandis en toutes splendeurs — en toute Śrī, en tout accomplissement lumineux.

Mantra 3

द्यामिन्द्रो हरिधायसं पृथिवीं हरिवर्पसम् । अधारयद्धरितोर्भूरि भोजनं ययोरन्तर्हरिश्चरत् ॥

Indra soutint le Ciel, plein d’éclat fauve (hari), et la Terre, riche de formes fauves. Il établit une nourriture abondante pour les deux puissances hari ; entre elles circule et œuvre l’Énergie lumineuse.

Mantra 4

जज्ञानो हरितो वृषा विश्वमा भाति रोचनम् । हर्यश्वो हरितं धत्त आयुधमा वज्रं बाह्वोर्हरिम् ॥

Né comme le Taureau des puissances fauves, tout l’espace lumineux resplendit. Indra aux coursiers fauves saisit l’arme fauve ; il place sur ses bras le vajra, puissance éclatante, pour l’œuvre de la victoire.
