निरिन्द्र भूम्या अधि वृत्रं जघन्थ निर्दिवः । सृजा मरुत्वतीरव जीवधन्या इमा अपोऽर्चन्ननु स्वराज्यम् ॥
nír indra bhū́myā ádhi vṛtráṃ jaghantha nír diváḥ | sṛjá marútvatīr áva jīvá-dhanyā imā́ apó ’rcann ánu sva-rā́jyam ||
Ô Indra, tu as frappé Vṛtra et l’as rejeté au loin — hors des assises de la terre et des hauteurs du ciel. Fais descendre vers nous ces eaux, pleines de la puissance des Maruts, eaux riches du bien de la vie ; qu’elles resplendissent en nous, à la suite de ta souveraine royauté.
