The Birth of Mahiṣāsura and the Goddess’s Victory as Mahīṣamardinī

ततो दुद्राव महिषस्ताः कन्याः शुभलोचनाः । गदामादाय तरसा कन्या दुद्राव वेगवान् ॥

tato dudrāva mahiṣastāḥ kanyāḥ śubhalocanāḥ | gadāmādāya tarasā kanyā dudrāva vegavān ||

Darauf stürmte der Büffel (Asura) auf jene Jungfrauen mit glückverheißenden Augen zu. Die Jungfrau ergriff mit Wucht eine Keule (gadā) und lief eilig davon.
