Niralamba Upanishad 33 — Verse 33

मूढ इति च कर्तृत्वाद्यहङ्कारभावारूढो मूढः ॥३३॥

मूढः । इति । च । कर्तृत्व-आदि-अहङ्कार-भाव-आरूढः । मूढः ॥

mūḍha iti ca kartṛtvādy-ahaṅkāra-bhāvārūḍho mūḍhaḥ ॥33॥

And ‘deluded’—deluded is one who has mounted (i.e., is entrenched in) the ego-sense such as doership and the like.

Ahaṅkāra / kartṛtva as avidyā (bondage)Mahavakya: Contrasts with ‘तत्त्वमसि’ (Tat tvam asi) and ‘अहं ब्रह्मास्मि’ by marking doership-ego as the obstacle to recognizing identity with Brahman.AtharvaChandas: Prose
