Sukta 9.86
He weaves around with the Sun’s rays, stretching a thread in triple form for right knowledge; leading ever-new commands of ṛta, the lord of peoples approaches the clear opening/release.
Soma, working through solar rays (raśmi), weaves the fabric of consciousness—forming a ‘thread’ (tantu) of knowledge in a triple pattern (trivṛt): often read as the threefold world/threefold instrument (body–life–mind) being harmonized into one coherent seeing. He leads the ever-new directives of r̥ta—fresh, living intuitions of right order—so the ‘lord of the races’ (patir janīnām), the governing soul-power in collective and individual nature, comes to the niṣkṛta: the cleared passage, the opening made by release from obstruction.
True knowledge is woven, not imposed: light organizes experience into a meaningful fabric; when we follow living truth (ṛta) rather than rigid rule, a clear passage opens and leadership becomes aligned with the highest order.
weaving of order, solar illumination, guidance, liberation passage
Soma hymns as a science of illumination: Soma becomes Sūrya-like rays weaving r̥ta into the mind and life.
A mantra of ‘weaving’: the practice of letting illumination organize the triple nature, producing a clear passage (niṣkṛta) for ascent and right governance.
Transforms solar light into an ordered fabric of knowledge; guides beings by ever-new r̥ta.
Illumined Ananda that becomes organizing gnosis—threading experience into truth and opening passages of release.
Pavamāna recitation during Soma rites; imagery supports the ordering function of Soma in the sacrifice.

4 × 12.
Interlaced, ‘woven’ feel—long lines suitable for imagery of threading and guidance.
Encourages integrative concentration; helps the mind feel ‘threaded’ into coherence.
Soma as weaver of ṛta: chant emphasizing correct knowledge and release/opening
During stotra sequences emphasizing Soma’s illumination and guidance.
Chant to invoke right knowledge and the opening of paths.
Use before study/decision-making: invoke rays weaving a triple-thread of clear understanding; ask for the ‘ever-new’ guidance of r̥ta.
tantra/tantu from √tan ‘stretch’ (PIE *ten- ‘stretch’, English tend). pra-śiṣ from √śās ‘command/instruct’ (PIE *ḱens-? debated; but Indo-Iranian has strong administrative/ordering sense). tri-vṛt ‘triple-encompassed’ suggests a threefold weaving of consciousness (e.g., physical-vital-mental) aligned to solar truth.
Ṛta as guidance (praśiṣ), threefold structure (tri-vṛt), release/opening (niṣkṛta)
Central: Soma leads the ‘praśiṣaḥ’ of ṛta—dynamic law, not static rule.
‘yathā vide’ points to knowledge aligned with truth, not opinion.
World-order as woven fabric of light; opening (niṣkṛta) as release in evolution.
Vedic gnosis / early Vijñāna conception: rays of Sūrya as truth-threads organizing consciousness.
dawn-to-morning transition (rays weaving and opening)
Rays = intuitions; thread = continuity of insight; triple weave = integrated nature; opening = liberated channel upward.
Visualize sun rays weaving a triple-thread through body–breath–mind, aligning them into one r̥ta-driven movement; rest attention at the ‘opening’ above the brow/crown.
Ajna to Sahasrara (opening/niṣkṛta)
Ujjayi (soft) with a visualization of golden threads on inhale; on exhale, feel a doorway clearing at the crown.
Integrative clarity, poised guidance.
Ask inwardly for ‘navīyasīḥ praśiṣaḥ’—fresh guidance today; if guidance feels mechanical, return to breath and rays; let the next step reveal itself as an opening rather than a push.
Chant with careful accent on ṛta-related words; preserve vocalic ‘ṛ’ in ṛtasya; consult accentuated saṃhitā for exact udatta/anudatta/svarita placements.
Slightly elongate ‘raśmibhiḥ’ and ‘tantuṃ’; articulate ‘trivṛtam’ distinctly; brighten tone on ‘ṛtasya’.
raśmibhiḥ: keep ‘śm’ cluster clear., trivṛtam: retroflex ‘ṛ’ not ‘ri’., praśiṣaḥ: ‘ṣ’ retroflex; do not soften to ‘s’., niṣkṛtam: clear ‘ṣkṛ’ cluster; keep vocalic ‘ṛ’ short but distinct.
Luminous, steady, slightly elevated in pitch on ‘sūryasya’.
