आपश्चिद्धि स्वयशसः सदस्सु देवीरिन्द्रं वरुणं देवता धुः । कृष्टीरन्यो धारयति प्रविक्ता वृत्राण्यन्यो अप्रतीनि हन्ति ॥

Transliteration

ā́paś cid dhí sva-yaśásaḥ sádaḥsu devī́r índraṃ váruṇaṃ devátā dhúḥ | kṛṣṭī́r anyó dhā́rayati prá-viktā vṛtrā́ṇy anyó ápratīni hanti ||

Translation

Selbst die Wasser, selbstherrlich-ruhmvoll, haben in ihren Sitzen Indra und Varuṇa als göttliche Mächte eingesetzt. Der eine trägt die Menschengemeinschaften, klar geschieden; der andere erschlägt die Vṛtras, die unbezwingbaren, unaufgehaltenen Hemmnisse.
