Sukta 7.18
न त इन्द्र सुमतयो न रायः संचक्षे पूर्वा उषसो न नूत्नाः । देवकं चिन्मान्यमानं जघन्थाव त्मना बृहतः शम्बरं भेत् ॥
ná ta indra sumatáyo ná rā́yaḥ saṁcákṣe pū́rvā uṣáso ná nū́tnāḥ | devákaṁ cin mānyamānáṁ jaghánthā́va tmánā bṛhatáḥ śámbaraṁ bhet ||
Nicht erschöpfen sich bei dir, o Indra, weder die guten Einsichten noch die Füllen des Reichtums: wie die Morgenröten, uralt und doch stets neu. Selbst Devaka, der sich für groß hielt, hast du erschlagen; und aus deinem eigenen weiten Selbst heraus zerbrachst du Śambara, die gewaltige Umwallung.
