Sukta 4.17
त्वं महाँ इन्द्र तुभ्यं ह क्षा अनु क्षत्रं मंहना मन्यत द्यौः । त्वं वृत्रं शवसा जघन्वान्त्सृजः सिन्धूँरहिना जग्रसानान् ॥
tváṃ mahā́ṃ indra túbhyaṃ ha kṣā́ ánu kṣatráṃ maṃhánā manyata dyáuḥ | tváṃ vṛtráṃ śávasā jaghánvān tsṛjáḥ síndhūn áhinā jagrasānā́n ||
Du bist der Große, o Indra; um deinetwillen erkennen Erde und Himmel die Herrschaft an, die deine überströmende Kraft verleiht. Du erschlug Vṛtra mit Macht und ließest die Ströme (síndhu) frei, die der Drache Ahi verschlungen hatte – du löstest die Wasser aus der Umklammerung der Hemmung.
