Sukta 10.69
भद्रा अग्नेर्वध्र्यश्वस्य संदृशो वामी प्रणीतिः सुरणा उपेतयः । यदीं सुमित्रा विशो अग्र इन्धते घृतेनाहुतो जरते दविद्युतत् ॥
bhadrā́ agnér vadhry-aśvásya saṃ-dṛ́śo vāmī́ prá-ṇītiḥ su-ráṇā́ upétayaḥ | yad ī́ṃ su-mitrā́ víśo ágre indháte ghṛténa ā́huto jarate davídyutat ||
Auspicious are Agni’s visions for Vadhryaśva—his gracious leading and noble approaches. When the peoples in friendship kindle him in front, then offered with ghee, he grows old/strong and shines with vivid brilliance.
Agni (divine will) reveals ‘bhadrāḥ saṃdṛśaḥ’—beneficent inner perceptions—when the seeker (Vadhryaśva as a representative of the striving human) is rightly led (praṇīti). The ‘peoples’ (viśaḥ) are the many parts of our nature; when they unite in harmony (sumitrāḥ) and kindle the will at the forefront (agre), feeding it with clarified light (ghṛta = purified understanding), the inner fire matures (jarate: grows in fullness) and flashes forth as intense illumination (davidyutat).
When the parts of the being agree and place the divine will in front, feeding it with purified understanding, consciousness grows luminous and effective. Inner harmony is a condition for stable illumination.
Agni kindling, guidance and auspicious vision, inner sacrifice, increase of luminous force
Late Rigvedic family/cycle in Book 10; personal-seer tone emphasizing experiential Agni-kindling and inner guidance.
Represents the aspirant who receives auspicious ‘visions’ when Agni is made the leader by a harmonized nature.
Mediator between human and divine; establishes the sacrifice; grows by offerings and manifests light.
Aspiration-will that converts understanding (ghṛta) into luminous force; guides the parts toward unity.
Agnihotra/Agni-kindling themes; general Agni praise at the opening/front of rites.

4 pādas × ~12 syllables (Jagatī norm; Book 10 hymns often mix, so verification may vary by pada).
Longer, flowing line; hospitable and expansive, suitable for describing beneficence and growth.
Creates a widening, welcoming field; supports meditation on harmony and steady increase of inner fire.
Agnihotra/household kindling and Soma-fire preparations: verses praising right kindling (indhate) and ghṛta-offering fit standard Agni liturgy.
At kindling (indhana) or invocation of Agni as leader; also adaptable to morning/evening practice.
Kindling and offering (ghṛta) with recitation; establishing Agni ‘in front’.
A daily ‘inner agnihotra’: begin the day by placing aspiration first, offering clarified intention, and aligning the parts in friendliness.
pra-ṇīti from √nī ‘lead’ (PIE *ney- ‘lead’) indicates inner guidance. ghṛta in RV is both ghee and ‘clarified brightness’ (√ghṛ/ghṛ ‘shine/gleam’ in Vedic semantic layering), supporting the inner sense: offering of luminous substance to the will-fire.
Agni as leader (praṇītī) of the inner journey, harmonized collectivity (viśaḥ) as integrated faculties, clarity (ghṛta) feeding conscious will
Agni’s praṇīti is right guidance—movement aligned with ṛta.
Ghṛta symbolizes purified truth-substance feeding the flame.
Growth of light through offering: consciousness increases by self-giving and clarity.
Vedic yoga of Agni (inner sacrifice), compatible with Aurobindo’s psychic fire and Kashyap’s psychological Agni.
morning (typical for kindling ‘in front’; not exclusive)
Fire = will; ghee = clarified understanding; kindling in front = putting the divine aim first; peoples = inner multiplicity brought into concord.
Kindle Agni at the ‘front’ of awareness: set intention, align parts, feed with clarity.
maṇipūra (fire/will) and anāhata (friendliness/unity)
3 rounds of bhastrikā light (or kapalabhāti gentle) to awaken fire, then slow breathing; chant on a steady exhale.
Unified aspiration; warm luminous steadiness.
Before chanting, gather the ‘viśaḥ’ (mind-life-body) by a brief inward prayer of friendship (sumitrā). While chanting, feel a flame at the navel/heart; ‘ghṛtena’—offer one clear, purified intention; sit and watch the inner brilliance spread.
Vedic accents as per śākhā; maintain long pāda flow typical of Jagatī; avoid breaking compounds mid-breath.
Keep ‘bhadrā … saṃdṛśo’ luminous and open; articulate ‘agre indhate’ distinctly; let ‘davidyutat’ be the bright culmination.
vadhryaśvasya: cluster dhrya clean; śva as ‘shva’, saṃdṛśo: anusvāra before dṛ, clear ṛ, ghṛtenāhutaḥ: ghṛ with clear ṛ; āhutaḥ with aspiration h, davidyutat: double ‘dyu’ feel, not ‘jyu’
Warm, steady, inviting; build gentle brightness toward the final word.
