Devata: Tapur-mūrdhā (a fiery protective power); allied to the protective/exorcistic function

तपुर्मूर्धा तपतु रक्षसो ये ब्रह्मद्विषः शरवे हन्तवा उ । क्षिपदशस्तिमप दुर्मतिं हन्नथा करद्यजमानाय शं योः ॥

tápur-mūrdhā tapatu rakṣáso yé brahma-dvíṣaḥ śárave hántavā u | kṣipád aśástim ápa durmatíṃ hánn áthā karad yajamā́nāya śáṃ yóḥ ||

Möge Tapur-mūrdhā die Rakṣasas versengen, jene Hasser des Brahman (des heiligen Wortes), damit sie vom Pfeil des Willens erschlagen werden. Die üble Preisung fortwerfend und den bösen Gedanken erschlagend, möge er dann dem Opfernden Frieden und Wohlergehen bereiten.
