Sukta 1.176
यथा पूर्वेभ्यो जरितृभ्य इन्द्र मय इवापो न तृष्यते बभूथ । तामनु त्वा निविदं जोहवीमि विद्यामेषं वृजनं जीरदानुम् ॥
yáthā pū́rvebhyo jaritṛ́bhya indra máyā ivā́po ná tṛ́ṣyate babhū́tha | tā́m ánu tvā nivídaṃ johavīmi vidyā́meṣáṃ vṛ́janaṃ jīrá-dānum ||
Wie du den früheren Sängern warst, o Indra — wie liebliche Wasser, die den Dürstenden nicht im Stich lassen — so rufe ich dich, jener nivid folgend, an: Mögen wir diesen Antrieb und die sieghafte Fülle finden, o du, schnell im Schenken, Spender.
