Sukta 1.164
यस्मिन्वृक्षे मध्वदः सुपर्णा निविशन्ते सुवते चाधि विश्वे । तस्येदाहुः पिप्पलं स्वाद्वग्रे तन्नोन्नशद्यः पितरं न वेद ॥
yásmin vṛkṣé madhv-ádaḥ suparṇā́ níviśante súvate cā́dhi víśve | tásyéd āhuḥ píppalaṃ svā́dv ágre tán nón naśad yáḥ pitáraṃ ná véda ||
An jenem Baum nehmen die honigtrinkenden Suparṇas ihren Sitz, und auf ihm werden alle Wesen in Bewegung gesetzt. Man sagt: Süß ist die Pippala an der Krone; doch wahrhaft erreicht sie nicht, wer den Vater nicht kennt.
