Sukta 1.148
मथीद्यदीं विष्टो मातरिश्वा होतारं विश्वाप्सुं विश्वदेव्यम् । नि यं दधुर्मनुष्यासु विक्षु स्वर्ण चित्रं वपुषे विभावम् ॥
mathīd yád īṃ viṣṭó mātariśvā hótāraṃ viśvā́psuṃ viśvádevyam | ní yaṃ dadhúr manuṣyā́su víkṣu svàrṇa citráṃ vápuṣe vibhāvám ||
Als Mātariśvan ihn durch Reiben hervorgebracht und fest eingesetzt hatte, stellte er den Hotar auf — allkundig, allen Göttern zugehörig. Da setzten ihn die Menschengeschlechter in ihre Sippen: ein strahlendes, buntes Bild, die weithin leuchtende Macht der lichten Welt.
