এই সংক্ষিপ্ত অনুষ্টুভ স্তোত্ৰত মিত্ৰ–বৰুণক বৰ্তমান সহায়ক ৰূপে আহ্বান কৰা হৈছে; তেওঁলোকৰ শৃঙ্খলাবদ্ধ, দীপ্তিময় পথপ্ৰদৰ্শন (সুমতি) উপাসকক আঘাত, দুঃখ-কষ্ট আৰু অন্তৰ্নিহিত বাধাৰ মাজেদি পাৰ কৰাই নিব পাৰে। সুৰক্ষা, কাৰ্যকৰী ৰক্ষাশক্তি আৰু দস্যু-শক্তি (অন্ধকাৰ, বিশৃঙ্খলা) ওপৰত বিজয়ৰ বাবে প্ৰাৰ্থনা কৰা হৈছে; শেষত দেহ আৰু প্ৰাণশক্তিত কোনো ক্ষতিকাৰক উপদ্ৰৱ (যক্ষ) নপৰিবলৈ অনুৰোধ কৰা হৈছে।
Mantra 1
पुरूरुणा चिद्ध्यस्त्यवो नूनं वां वरुण । मित्र वंसि वां सुमतिम् ॥
হে বৰুণ! বহু আঘাত আৰু দুঃসহ অৱস্থাৰ মাজতো আমাৰ বাবে তোমালোকৰ সহায় এতিয়াও সত্যই আছে। হে মিত্র! তোমালোক দুয়ো আমাৰ বাবে সুমতি—শুভ-বুদ্ধি, ঋত-প্ৰকাশময় বোধ—ইচ্ছা কৰাঁ।
Mantra 2
ता वां सम्यगद्रुह्वाणेषमश्याम धायसे । वयं ते रुद्रा स्याम ॥
আমি যেন তোমালোকৰ প্ৰতি সম্যক্—ঋত-পথে—চলি, দ্ৰোহ নকৰাকৈ, তোমালোকৰ ধায়স্—আনন্দ-পোষণৰ প্ৰেৰণাশক্তি—প্ৰাপ্ত কৰোঁ। হে ৰুদ্রগণ! আমি যেন তোমালোকৰেই হওঁ।
Mantra 3
पातं नो रुद्रा पायुभिरुत त्रायेथां सुत्रात्रा । तुर्याम दस्यून्तनूभिः ॥
হে ৰুদ্ৰগণ, আপোনালোকৰ ৰক্ষাকবচেৰে আমাক ৰক্ষা কৰক; আৰু হে সু-ত্ৰাতা, আমাক উদ্ধাৰ কৰক। আমি আমাৰ দেহগত শক্তিসমূহেৰে দস্যু—অৱৰোধকাৰী অন্ধকাৰসমূহ—অতিক্ৰম কৰি পৰাভূত কৰোঁ।
Mantra 4
मा कस्याद्भुतक्रतू यक्षं भुजेमा तनूभिः । मा शेषसा मा तनसा ॥
হে অদ্ভুত-ক্রতু, আমাৰ দেহগত সত্তাৰ ভিতৰত কোনো অকল্যাণকৰ যক্ষ বা পীড়া যেন আমি ভোগ নকৰোঁ; অৱশিষ্ট দুৰ্বলতাৰে নহয়, দেহ-সাৰ নাশ হোৱাতো নহয়।
They are paired Āditya deities who uphold ṛta (cosmic and moral order). Mitra emphasizes harmony and right relations, while Varuṇa emphasizes truth, law, and vigilant protection.
Sumati means good-mindedness or right understanding—clear, luminous counsel that aligns thought and action with ṛta. The hymn asks Mitra–Varuṇa to place this clarity in the worshipper.
In a ritual-spiritual reading, dasyus are obstructing forces—darkness, disorder, or hostile impulses that block progress. Yakṣa here refers to a harmful affliction or visitation the hymn asks to be kept away from one’s embodied life and vitality.
