The Birth of Ahaṅkāra as Guha/Skanda and His Appointment as Divine Commander
yo'sau śarīrago devaḥ ahaṃkāreti kīrtitaḥ | prayojanavaśād devaḥ saiva senāpatir vibho || 25.35 ||
Varāha (default, instructor voice in Varāha–Pṛthivī dialogue framework)
It reflects the integration of Sāṅkhya-style categories (especially ahaṃkāra) into Purāṇic discourse, showing how philosophical psychology was preserved and popularized in narrative-text traditions.
No geographic location is named in this verse; the content is conceptual, focusing on inner faculties rather than sacred geography.
Rather than a direct moral rule, the verse offers a philosophical instruction: understanding the ego-principle (ahaṃkāra) as a governing function within embodied life, which supports disciplined self-knowledge and analysis of agency.
