The Account of Saramā: Indra’s Restoration after Loss of Sovereignty
abravīt tatra devānāṁ gurur āṅgiraso muniḥ | gomedhena yajaghvaṁ vai prathamena tadantaram || 16.10 ||
Varāha (default speaker framework; internal quotation attributes speech to Āṅgirasa)
It preserves Purāṇic framing of Vedic-style ritual authority by naming Āṅgirasa as the gods’ preceptor and presenting an injunction-like line that echoes older sacrificial discourse.
No explicit geographic toponym appears in this verse; it is situationally marked only by “tatra” (“there”), requiring broader chapter context for localization.
The verse primarily conveys procedural instruction—performing a rite in a specified sequence—reflecting an emphasis on ordered practice (vidhi) rather than a direct moral maxim.
