आग॒न् रात्री॑ सं॒गम॑नी॒ वसू॑ना॒मूर्जं॑ पु॒ष्टं वस्वा॑वे॒शय॑न्ती । अ॒मा॒वा॒स्याऽयै ह॒विषा॑ विधे॒मोर्जं॒ दुहा॑ना॒ पय॑सा न॒ आग॑न्

ā́gan rā́trī saṅgámanī vásūnām ūrjáṃ púṣṭaṃ vásvāveśáyantī | amāvāsyā́yai havíṣā vidhemórjaṃ dúhānā páyasā na ā́gan ||

Night hath come, the gatherer of treasures, bringing wealth, infusing thriving strength. To New-Moon with oblation would we do worship: milking forth nourishment with milk, let her come unto us.

రాత్రి వచ్చింది—వసువుల (ధనాల) సంగమిని, సంపదను తెచ్చే దానిగా, ఊర్జం అనే పుష్టి-బలాన్ని నివసింపజేసే దానిగా. అమావాస్యకై మేము హవిస్‌ (ఆహుతి) తో విధిపూర్వకంగా ఆరాధించుదము; పాలతో పోషణాన్ని దోహనముచేసి ఆమె మా వద్దకు రాగాక.
