AV 6.37 శాపనివారణకు చెందిన సంక్షిప్త సూక్తం. ఇందులో శపథాన్ని—వ్యక్తీకృతమైన, సర్వదర్శి ప్రమాణ/శాపశక్తిని—ఆహ్వానించి, హానికరమైన శాపోక్తిని పలికిన వాడిని వెంబడించి పట్టుకోమని కోరుతుంది. బాధితుని హృదయంలో పాతుకుపోయిన శాపాన్ని పీకివేసి, అగ్ని మరియు విద్యుత్తుల అనివార్య వేగంతో ఆ దండశక్తిని శపించినవాడిపైనే తిరిగి మళ్లిస్తుంది. చివరి మలుపులో అపరాధిని మృత్యువుకు అప్పగించి, శాపప్రతిప్రవాహాన్ని ముద్రవేసి, గృహం/సమాజానికి రక్షణను పునఃస్థాపిస్తుంది.

శాపనాశకుడు. సహస్రాక్షుడు ఇక్కడికి వచ్చాడు; శపథం (శాప-శక్తి) తన రథాన్ని యుక్తం చేసి, నన్ను శపించినవాడిని వెదుకుతోంది—గొర్రెలున్నవాడి ఇంటిని తోడేలు వెదకినట్లు.

परि॑ णो वृङ्ग्धि शपथ ह्र॒दम॒ग्निरि॑वा॒ दह॑न्। श॒प्तार॒मत्र॑ नो जहि दि॒वो वृ॒क्षमि॑वा॒शनिः॑
ఓ శపథం (శాపం), మా హృదయంలోని (దుఃఖం/క్లేశం) మాలోనుండి చీల్చి తొలగించు—అగ్ని దహించి కాల్చినట్లు. అలాగే ఇక్కడ మా కోసం నన్ను శపించినవాడిని పడగొట్టి సంహరించు—దివ్య వజ్ర-ఆశని చెట్టును పగలగొట్టి పడేసినట్లు.

తానే శాపరహితుడై ఉండి కూడా మమ్మల్ని శపించేవాడు, అలాగే మమ్మల్ని శపించే ఎవరైనా—ఆ మనిషిని నేను మృత్యువునకు తిరిగి తోసివేస్తాను; కుక్కకు నూరిన చెత్త ముద్దను విసిరినట్లుగా.

Śapatha is the personified force of the oath/curse: a moral and ritual enforcer. Here it is invoked as a protective power that detects hostile speech and turns it back on its author.
It does both: it removes the curse’s effect from the victim (especially from the heart/mind) and performs pratyāvartana—sending the curse-force back to the one who uttered it, culminating in handing the offender to Mṛtyu.
