Arthashastra 3.2.36: Dharmasthiya, Adhyaya 2, Sutra 36

जीवति भर्तरि मृतायाः पुत्रा दुहितरश्च स्त्रीधनं विभजेरनपुत्राया दुहितरः तदभावे भर्ता ॥

Transliteration

jīvati bhartari mṛtāyāḥ putrā duhitaraś ca strīdhanaṃ vibhajeran aputrāyā duhitaraḥ tadabhāve bhartā

Translation

భర్త జీవించి ఉండగా భార్య మరణిస్తే, ఆమె స్త్రీధనాన్ని కుమారులు, కుమార్తెలు పంచుకోవాలి. కుమారులు లేకపోతే కుమార్తెలు తీసుకుంటారు; వారు లేకపోతే భర్త తీసుకుంటాడు.
