Marital Fidelity and Ethical Devotion

उपवासो न दानं वा न देवो वा महामुने ॥ यादृशी तु भवेद्विप्र शृणु तत्त्वं समासतः ॥

upavāso na dānaṁ vā na devo vā mahāmune || yādṛśī tu bhaved vipra śṛṇu tattvaṁ samāsataḥ

Não é o jejum, nem a esmola, nem mesmo o culto à divindade, ó grande sábio. Antes, ó brāhmaṇa, ouve em resumo o princípio: que espécie de conduta é esta.
