Mandukya Upanishad 7: Verse 7
नान्तःप्रज्ञं न बहिष्प्रज्ञं नोभयतःप्रज्ञं न प्रज्ञानघनं न प्रज्ञं नाप्रज्ञम् । अदृष्टमव्यवहार्यमग्राह्यमलक्षणम् अचिन्त्यमव्यपदेश्यमेकात्मप्रत्ययसारं प्रपञ्चोपशमं शान्तं शिवमद्वैतं चतुर्थं मन्यन्ते स आत्मा स विज्ञेयः ॥७॥
न । अन्तः-प्रज्ञम् । न । बहिः-प्रज्ञम् । न । उभयतः-प्रज्ञम् । न । प्रज्ञान-घनम् । न । प्रज्ञम् । न । अप्रज्ञम् । अदृष्टम् । अव्यवहार्यम् । अग्राह्यम् । अलक्षणम् । अचिन्त्यम् । अव्यपदेश्यम् । एक-आत्म-प्रत्यय-सारम् । प्रपञ्च-उपशमम् । शान्तम् । शिवम् । अद्वैतम् । चतुर्थम् । मन्यन्ते । सः । आत्मा । सः । विज्ञेयः ॥७॥
nāntaḥprajñaṃ na bahiṣprajñaṃ nobhayataḥprajñaṃ na prajñānaghanaṃ na prajñaṃ nāprajñam | adṛṣṭam avyavahāryam agrāhyam alakṣaṇam acintyam avyapadeśyam ekātmapratyayasāraṃ prapañcopaśamaṃ śāntaṃ śivaṃ advaitaṃ caturthaṃ manyante sa ātmā sa vijñeyaḥ ||7||
[Turīya] não é consciência do interior, nem consciência do exterior, nem consciência de ambos; não é uma massa compacta de consciência; não é consciente, nem inconsciente. É invisível, inaplicável às transações, inapreensível, sem marca distintiva, impensável, indizível; sua essência é a certeza do Único Si-mesmo. É a cessação da proliferação fenomênica, pacífico, auspicioso, não-dual. A isto chamam o Quarto; isso é o Ātman; isso deve ser conhecido.
[Turīya is] not that which is conscious of the internal, not that which is conscious of the external, not that which is conscious of both; not a compact mass of consciousness; not conscious, not unconscious. It is unseen, not an object of transaction, ungraspable, without distinguishing mark, unthinkable, indescribable; its essence is the certitude of the one Self; it is the cessation of phenomenal proliferation, peaceful, auspicious, non-dual. This they consider the Fourth; that is the Self; that is to be known.
