Este breve hino atharvavédico é um encanto matrimonial (jāyākāmanā) destinado a atrair para a vida e para a casa do recitador uma esposa adequada. (Desejo de esposa.) Vem aqui; da que veio eu tomo o nome, da que se aproximou. Invoco o poder de Indra, Vṛtrahan, Vāsava, Śatakratu.

येन॑ सू॒र्यां सा॑वि॒त्रीम॒श्विनो॒हतुः॑ प॒था। तेन॒ माम॑ब्रवी॒द् भगो॑ जा॒यामा व॑हता॒दिति॑
Pelo mesmo caminho por onde os Aśvins conduziram Sūryā, a Sāvitrī, ao longo da senda — por esse caminho que Bhaga me fale: «Que se traga aqui uma esposa».

यस्ते॑ऽङ्कु॒शो व॑सु॒दानो॑ बृ॒हन्नि॑न्द्र हिर॒ण्ययः॑ । तेना॑ जनीय॒ते जा॒यां मह्यं॑ धेहि शचीपते
Teu aṅkuśa de ouro, ó Indra — grande, doador de riquezas: com ele obtém para mim uma esposa e concede-ma, ó senhor de Śacī.
