Sukta 3
यत् ते॑ च॒न्द्रं क॑श्यप रोच॒नाव॒द् यत् सं॑हि॒तं पु॑ष्क॒लं चि॒त्रभा॑नु। यस्मि॒न्त्सूर्या॒ आर्पि॑ताः स॒प्त सा॒कं तस्य॑ दे॒वस्य॑ । क्रु॒द्धस्यै॒तदागो॒ य ए॒वं वि॒द्वांसं॑ ब्राह्म॒णं जि॒नाति॑ । उद् वे॑पय रोहित॒ प्र क्षि॑णीहि ब्रह्म॒ज्यस्य॒ प्रति॑ मुञ्च॒ पाशा॑न्
yát te candráṃ kaśyapa rocanā́vat yát sáṃhitaṃ púṣkalaṃ citrábhānu | yásmin sū́ryā ā́rpitāḥ saptá sā́kaṃ tásya devásya | kruddhásyaitád ā́go yá eváṃ vidvā́ṃsaṃ brāhmaṇáṃ jinā́ti | úd vepaya rohita prá kṣiṇīhi brahmajyásya práti muñca pā́śān
That moon of thine, O Kaśyapa, radiant; that well-compacted, abundant, bright-flamed (orb), wherein the seven suns are set together—of that God. This is the offence against that wrathful God, whoso thus wrongs a knowing Brahmin. Make him quake, O Rohita; waste him away; against the Brahmin-hurter loose back the nooses.
Essa lua que é tua, ó Kaśyapa, radiante; esse astro bem unido, abundante, de chama multicolor, no qual os sete sóis estão postos juntos — (pertence) a esse Deus. Esta é a culpa contra esse Deus irado: quem assim ofende um brâmane conhecedor. Faze-o tremer, ó Rohita; definha-o, consome-o; ao feridor do brâmane solta e remove as amarras.
