नवकोट्यस्तु चामुण्डा भेदभिन्ना व्यवस्थिताः । या रौद्री तामसी शक्तिः सा चामुण्डा प्रकीर्तिता ॥
navakoṭyastu cāmuṇḍā bhedabhinna vyavasthitāḥ | yā raudrī tāmasī śaktiḥ sā cāmuṇḍā prakīrtitā ||
Chāmuṇḍā dikatakan terbahagi kepada sembilan koṭi, berbeza-beza menurut pemisahan dan tersusun sebagaimana sepatutnya. Kuasa yang bersifat Raudrī dan tāmasik—dialah yang diproklamasikan sebagai Chāmuṇḍā.
