FAQs

It reflects a Purāṇic mode of calendrical discipline—linking specific lunar dates (tithi) with regulated conduct—showing how medieval Sanskrit textual culture systematized observances through month-by-month prescriptions.

No geographic site is named in this verse; the focus is temporal (Phālguna month, bright fortnight, third tithi) rather than spatial.

The observance is framed as requiring personal purity and truthfulness (śuci and satyavādin), emphasizing ethical discipline as a prerequisite alongside the ritual act of fasting at night.
