Ritual done with conviction yields pāpa-kṣaya and qualifies one for transcendence beyond rebirth; satya-dharma arises as inner transformation.
Undertake expiatory/meritorious rites without cynicism; cultivate truthfulness and dharmic conduct as the natural outcome of purification.
‘Hari’s purāṇa-loka’ functions as the transcendent goal; ritual action becomes a vehicle from cyclical time (saṃsāra-cakra) to the timeless foundation—mirroring Varāha’s role of re-establishing the earth on stable ground (cosmic re-grounding, though not explicit here).
Pāpa ‘burning away’ parallels āhuti consuming impurities; śuddhi as clarified state akin to ghee’s purity; saṃsāra-cakra imagery evokes turning vs. the stable support principle of Viṣṇu.
Faith (aśaṅkā) and disciplined action purify antaḥkaraṇa; liberation framed as release from saṃsāra through grace/attainment of Hari’s realm (sāyujya/sālokya-type purāṇic soteriology).
Performing the prescribed rite destroys all sin; one should not doubt; purification leads beyond saṃsāra toward Hari’s ancient realm, producing prosperity and truth-based dharma.
Following yields rapid pāpa-kṣaya, śuddhi, śrī (prosperity), and attainment of Hari-loka; doubting/neglecting implies continued saṃsāra and persistence of pāpa (by implication).
40.40.6-7 (the rite whose fruit is stated); 40.40.9 (bhakti destroys multi-birth sins)
It reflects a common Purāṇic ethical framework in which prescribed observances are presented as means of moral purification and social-religious cohesion, using idioms such as pāpa-vināśa (destruction of demerit) and satya-dharma (truth-based righteousness).
No specific geographic site is named in this verse; the focus is on moral-ritual efficacy and the post-purification attainment of Hari’s realm.
The verse emphasizes confidence in ethical-ritual discipline: performing the prescribed act leads to purification, diminishes harmful moral residue (pāpa), and supports the arising of truth-oriented conduct (satya-dharma).
