The Origin of Rudra, the Disruption of Dakṣa’s Sacrifice, and the Establishment of Paśupati
Brahmā (addressing Rudra; inferred from vocative/agent brahmaṇā)
It preserves a common Purāṇic motif that explains a divine epithet (Rudra) through narrative etymology, situating Rudra within Brahmā’s cosmogonic administration and reflecting early medieval Sanskrit literary strategies for name-explanation.
No specific geographic location is named in this verse; the content is cosmogonic rather than topographical.
The verse emphasizes composure and purposeful action—moving from grief to constructive responsibility—framed as an instruction to undertake and guide creation according to one’s capacity and role.
